If you "rock the house," your CD cover should, too!
No matter what kind of music you make, my aim is always the same – to design packaging that fits you and your musical style. I think your CD should have the same pro-quality visual impact as a major label release. Of course, a lot of designers say those kinds of things. So how is working with me different than working with them?
I Speak Musician.™
I received my formal education at Mercyhurst University, where I earned a B.S. in Graphic and Interior Design. But I've been writing, recording and performing music pretty much my whole life. Years of touring in the 80's with Donnie Iris and the Cruisers led to friendships with musicians and fans all over the world. You and I can talk about your music and pretty much speak the same language. And you won't ever need to worry that your graphic designer might mistakenly switch the Stratocaster® on your CD cover with the Telecaster® you wanted on the back.
I know the difference, believe me.
I can also help you with promotion.
This site is about CDs and DVDs, of course – but also about other stuff to promote your brand,
like posters, mailers, T-shirts, and web graphics.
In my "other" life as an advertising art director, I work for an excellent company branding and promoting products and services of all kinds. Lots of variety. But on my own time, I play music and I freelance. I created this site so fellow musicians can connect with an experienced designer ( me! ) who actually wants to make their musical career a bit easier.

What do you get and how much does it cost?
I’m a freelance designer. I don't print or manufacture CDs – I provide graphic design only. Since each project is unique, the amount of design time varies, so unfortunately I can't provide flat rate pricing here - the prices below provide a reliable start. You'll receive an estimate and timeframe after we discuss your project and agree on what it will consist of.
Once you approve the project estimate, and I receive all your text, photos, and other materials, I need a 50% deposit to begin. The remaining balance is due upon completion.
Turnaround? Between 3-4 weeks.
If you need something faster, let me know. I accept rush orders when I can.

Bio | American Guitarist and Graphic Designer Marty Lee Hoenes.
Marty Lee Hoenes is a Freelance Designer, an Art Director for a midwest U.S. creative communications company, and a founding member and Lead Guitarist of Donnie Iris and the Cruisers. He and the band achieved international success with the 80's rock hits "Ah! Leah!" and "Love is Like a Rock", which are considered essential "Classic Rock" tracks both in the U.S. and abroad.
Marty’s early career as a musician saw him record five major label albums in four years (four for MCA and one for HME/CBS); writing and performing on several BILLBOARD TOP 40 hit singles and albums. Managed by Cleveland's reknowned Belkin Organization, he gained immeasurable music biz experience during the band's many U.S. tours and countless concert appearances with other acts of the 80's era including: Journey, Loverboy, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, The Romantics, Eddie Money, UFO, Nazareth, Ted Nugent, Joan Jett, Hall & Oates, The Michael Stanley Band, Joe Grushecky & The Iron City Houserockers, The Kinks, Triumph, Rick Derringer, B.E. Taylor, The Clarks, REO Speedwagon, and many, many others.
Though retired from national touring, Marty is still very active as a musician, and lends his time and talent to a variety of projects and causes. In Pittsburgh, PA, he and the Cruisers joined with other regional favorites, Joe Grushecky, Rusted Root, B.E. Taylor, Povertyneck Hillbillies, and The Clarks to raise over $100,000 for the American Red Cross and Hurricane Katrina victims. Along with bandmates Mark Avsec, Paul Goll, Donnie Iris, and Kevin Valentine, Marty has also often been a performer at the annual Cleveland Indians Tribe Jam, which features well-known Cleveland area musicians and Major League Baseball players, and raises money for Cleveland Indians Charities.
Marty has been designing award-winning materials for the music industry for over 15 years.
His experience as a songwriter and musician gives him a one-of-a-kind perspective as a graphic designer.
